Held on September 10, 2026, at Dakota Dunes Resort, the Family Medicine Resident Retreat brought together first- and second-year family medicine residents from across Saskatchewan, along with 20 Enhanced Skills residents, marking the first time this group participated in the event. The retreat balances professional development with opportunities to connect, recharge and socialize, while helping residents explore career opportunities and build relationships with health system leaders and community representatives.
The afternoon career fair, produced by the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine, experienced significant growth with more than 50% more communities and clinics participating than in previous years. Health Careers Saskatchewan had a new, vibrant booth display set up, with recruitment team members welcoming residents and discussing the healthcare opportunities and incentives across our province.
After the career fair, residents had the opportunity to attend a meet and greet with the Minister of Health Jeremy Cockrill, where they had face-to-face time with executive leaders from The Saskatchewan Healthcare Recruitment Agency (SHRA), Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), Government of Saskatchewan Ministry of Health, the College of Medicine and Emmanuel Health.
The day ended with a banquet co-sponsored by the SHRA and the SHA where 19 communities and clinics remained for the evening dinner, providing additional networking opportunities and meaningful conversations about practice opportunities across Saskatchewan.
